Calf: The young of various animals (cow, whale, etc.) 4. Camoflage: Coloration that blends in with the surrounding environment. 5. Dorsal Fin: The fin on a whale's back. Fins consist of dense, fibrous connective tissue, with no bones. 6. Flippers: The broad, flat forelimbs of whales. Flippers are supported by bones. They're used for steering and stopping. 7. Flukes: Horizontal lobes of the tail of a whale, made of connective tissue (not bone). The flukes are used in an up and down motion to propel the killer whale through the water. 8. Marine Mammal: A mammal adapted to live in the marine environment and dependent on the ocean for food. 9. Pod: A group of whales. 10. Predator: An animal that eats other animals. 11.
